- Go to Settings and maintenance > Fields. Then select the required tab: Company, Contact, Project, Sale, Follow-up, or Document.
- Double-click the required field in the Fields list.
- Make the necessary changes in the various fields. (See the list of field properties). Use the Type drop-down to choose a new type. You will see only the compatible field types. That is, where existing data can be converted to fit the new field type.
- Click Save.
- Click Publish to make the changes available to SuperOffice users.
You must publish the changes for user-defined fields before you define page 1 fields for the various user groups and save (not publish).
Making a field mandatory? Make sure it has somewhere to live.If the More tab has been removed in Screen Designer, a newly-mandatory field
may have no place to appear on the screen. When that happens, users can’t save
new records — and the disabled Save button won’t clearly explain why. Before marking a field as mandatory, open Screen Designer for the affected
entity and confirm the field is visible on a tab that users can actually reach.
Convert field type
Not all conversions are possible because different types of user-defined field values are stored in different tables in the database and use different base data types.
How to read the table:
The field types in the left column are compatible with and can be converted to the types marked with an x. For example, a number can be converted to a decimal and a short text. (And it is obviously compatible with itself.)
